News24xx.com -  Taj Mahal is one of the most recognised tourist spots in the world. It's a pride of India that is visited by millions of inland and foreign tourists. People from all age groups visit the Mughal architectures premier piece. Now, the administration has taken a decision that will make the historical monument even more inviting. The Taj Mahal will soon have a a breast feeding lactating mothers.

It will be the first at any monument in the country.

On average India welcomes more than 10 million foreign tourists every year. This is excluding the nearly 1652 million domestic tourists visiting various locations around the country every year.

The World Travel and Tourism Council calculated that tourism generated ?16.91 lakh crore or 9.2% of India's GDP in 2018 and supported 42.673 million jobs, 8.1% of its total employment.

Despite how huge the industry is, India has often failed the tourists, especially when it comes to providing the basic facilities.

One of those things tourists, especially those traveling with infants have often faced is the lack of feeding rooms. This has often led to mothers being forced to breastfeed their children in the open or inside toilets.

Vasant Kumar Swarnkar, a top official at the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) in Agra told Reuters that the baby feeding room would be set up by July to help the “millions of mothers who visit with their babies”.

ASI said this was the first time it was providing such a facility at any of India’s 3,600 plus monuments.

“My hope is that more and more monuments - not only in India but around the world - replicate this (plan) so that women can feed their babies comfortably,” said Swarnkar.
