Just announcing his retirement as football player, Xavi Hernandez directly contracted as a football coach


Xavi HernandezXavi Hernandez - Xavi Hernandez is officially appointed as coach of Al Sadd. The Barcelona legend hires for two years to train the Qatar club. Xavi himself has just decided to retire as a player. The 39-year-old man decided to retire at the beginning of May, closing his career with Al Saad - which he had been defending since 2015 after leaving Barcelona.

When announcing his retirement, Xavi told his plan to continue his career as a coach. And now, that is realized. Al Sadd decided to appoint Xavi as his coach. The former Barcelona midfielder is contracted for the next two years. The announcement was made on the club's official Twitter.

"Official: Our Maestro survives! Captain Xavi extended his contract with AlSadd and will stay with the club for the next two years. Xavi will take over as head coach since the beginning of next season" Al Sadd wrote. Xavi will replace coach Jesualdo Ferreira. Before that the Portuguese coach brought Al Sadd to win the Qatar League.

Xavi is one of the best midfielders when his prime. For most of his career, he played with Barcelona, the Spanish man made 767 appearances and produced 85 goals for the Blaugrana and won 25 titles, including 8 La Liga titles, 4 Champions League titles, and 3 Copa del Rey titles.

In addition of his success with Barcelona, Xavi is also a Spanish national team hero. He brought La Furia Roja to win the 2008 and 2012 European Cups and the 2010 World Cup, with a total of 113 caps and 13 goals scored.
