Meet Rebecca Woody, a 70-year-old bodybuilder with medical condition that can't be unhealed

News24xx.com - Rebecca Woody is a 70-year-old bodybuilder who had won various national weightlifting contests. She even won in the over 35s category as the oldest contestants.

She started bodybuilding after giving birth to her third child. She claimed that her incredible physique and life style have improved her sex life with her husband, who is 14 years younger than her.

However, at 33, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints. The doctors told her to stop bodybuilding. But she did not stop and decided to continue going to the gym. Now, at 70, she is still with arthritis and still very strong.

“Once, I was told by my doctor ‘I wish you just planted flowers because you will never compete in bodybuilding,’ well I did, and I’m still competing, I still have rheumatoid arthritis. Basically, I have never stopped lifting weights. I competed in the late 80s and early 90s in powerlifting, which in turn bulked me up. I realized pound by pound that I was strong,” she said.

Between 1980 and 1990, Woody competed in three NPC National bodybuilding competitions and won each one. In 2015, at the age of 66, she competed in NPC Muscle Mayhem Master’s BB contest and won first place.

Some people had given her hateful comments in the past, saying that she’s too masculine. But Woody is not bothered by it. Now, people’s opinions of her are much better and they tend to respect her and inspired by her.
