Riau police captured three escaped prisoners in Bengkalis

News24xx.com - Bengkalis Police in Riau Province captured three prisoners that had escaped from Sungai Penuh Penitentiary in Jambi. They were captured in Bengkalis. One of them was shot by the police.

“We received information from the Kerinci Police’s criminal investigation division that their fugitives were in Bengkalis area,” said the head of Bengkalis Police criminal investigation division, Setiawan.

The escaped prisoners, Syafrizal (37), Mike Putra Wijaya (37), and Rahmat Dani (24), were arrested for drug charges. Syafrizal was sentenced to nine years in prison. Mike was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison. Rahmat was sentenced to five years and six months in prison.

The prisoners escaped on June 10th through the prison’s sewage system. The fourth escaped prisoner, Herman Piton, has not been found.
