News24xx.com - Keith Raniere, the leader of the sex sect called Nxivm (read: Nexium) who is being accused of enslaving women, is convicted of all the charges addressed to him. By a panel of judges in a court that has lasted for six weeks in Brooklyn, New York, United States, the 58-year-old man is found guilty for sex trafficking, involved in child pornography, and extortion.

Raniere, who pleaded not guilty, is now threatened with a life sentence. During the trial, the audience heard how the group recruited a number of women, branded them with the initials Raniere, and forced them to have sex with Raniere.

Raniere insisted that Nxivm is "an association that refers to humanitarian principles that seek to empower people". However, investigators called the group as a true sex trafficking business which was packaged as a guidance group. The women recruited, according to the prosecutor, were convinced that all members in the group were women and they were asked to submit various things that later can be used to extort them.

Raniere was arrested by FBI officers in Mexico, last year. His legal team said the alleged sexual relations were based on mutual attraction. When the verdict was read outside the court, the former Nxivm members applauded the prosecutor's team. As stated in the motto of Nxivm, Raniere and his organization "work to build a better world".

However, the witnesses presented at the trial said a completely different story. Raniere, as noted by the court, runs a secret community in the Nxivm body called DOS. As the "highest lord" of DOS, according to prosecutors, Raniere played a role as a "predator" who exploited and extorted women, including 15-year-old girls.
