News24xx.com - Last year, the number of people who fled from their home country due to war, persecution and conflict exceeded 70 million. They have to cross the waters, climb the mountain, in the midst of extreme weather to get into another country to get a new life.

The most refugees in the world come from Syria, followed by Afghanistan and South Sudan. Turkey is the country that receives the most refugees at this time, and Australia is home to less than 0.1 percent of the world's refugees. Every year, on June 20th is celebrated as World Refugee Day and the latest data shows that as many as 70.8 million people have been forced to leave their homes.

This figure is the highest number ever seen by the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, in the past 70 years. 25.9 millions of them were forced to leave their countries. At present half of the world's refugees are under 18 years old. There are also millions of people who do not have citizenship status, or stateless.

That’s because they have left their home country, but in the new country they have not yet received a citizen status or have even been denied their application of refugee so they have lost their rights, such as getting education, access to health, or employment.

The most refugees in the world come from Syria, with 6.7 million, followed by Afghans (2.7 million) and South Sudan (2.3 million). "Most of the refugees chose the closest countries they could reach as their place to get their new life back" the UNHCR report said.
