News24xx.com - When everyone chose to leave 'The Gap', one of the most favourite places of suicide in Australia, Don Ritchie choose to live there and he already saves 160 lives who were about to jump off the cliff since 1964.

Reported by Gawker, every day Ritchie wakes up early and look out the window of his room and see if anyone is standing too close to the cliff. If he saw one, he will approach the person with a warm smile. "I offer them alternatives. I always act friendly. I smile" he said. He will take the depressed person to his house to drink tea and exchange ideas.

Every week, at least one person will try to attempt suicide at 'The Gap'. This place has become a legend for Australians to end their lives since decades ago. Ritchie is indeed sincere to help others."My goals are to make them never try that again, and give them time, to give them a chance to look in the mirror, and give them the opportunity to realize that things will get better the next morning" he said.

Until the end of his life, at the age of 84, Don Ritchie continued to save many lives that would jump off a cliff. On one occasion, he had said that someone wants to continue his noble deeds. "I hope that someone will do what I did" he told.
