A wild elephant was separated from its pack in Peranap, Indragiri Hulu

News24xx.com - The Head of Great Hall od Riau Natural Resources Conservation (BBKSDA), Suharyono said that a wild elephant was separated from its pack consisting of 6 elephants, in Peranap District, Indragiri Hulu, on Monday, July 15th.

The group of elephants was being herded toward pocket area for elephants in Tesso Nilo National Park (TNTN). But one of them got separated and the field team of BBKSDA prepare anesthetic bullet in case they have to pacify it.

“It’s true that there is one 8-year-old elephant that got separated from the group. Although our field team is equipped with anesthetic bullets, we are looking for other alternative ways,” he said.

According to him, the elephant was separated due to sickness. It was proven by the wet feces they had found, which is different from normal elephant’s feces that is solid and hard.

“Our team is now working on analyzing what kind of illness the elephant is suffering from. Right now, there has been no new report that we get,” he explained.
