The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Riau officially held a regional training camp (platda) running for 165 athletes from 11 sports (sports) who will compete in the 2019 Regional Sport Weeks Bengkulu.

The Chairman of KONI Riau, Emrizal Pakis, said that the athletes will start running TC for 2.5 months, starting today until the implementation of Regional IX in Bengkulu in early November 2019.

"TC implementation is carried out by provicial committe of every sport, including the training ground is also determined by sports," said Emrizal Pakis, Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

The 11 sports contested at the Bengkulu Regional Office IX namely, athletics, swimming, badminton, billiards, soccer, chess, boxing, Kempo, rock climbing, muaythai, and indoor volleyball.

Meanwhile, Head of Riau Youth and Sport Service (Dispora) Doni Aprialdi hopes the Riau contingent team is optimistic in facing every game to be able to achieve maximum achievements, including maintaining the achievement as Porwil general champion.

"Indeed, defending a champion is not easy, and heavy if used as a burden. Stay optimistic, and make this regional plateau a place to establish yourself and stamina," said Doni who represented the Governor of Riau, Syamsuar.

Still said Doni, Bengkulu IX Regional Porwil also became a venue for selection of athletes toward the upcoming 2020 PON XX in Papua. Of course, Riau is expected to be able to pass as many athletes as possible.

"The task for KONI, sports organizers and coaches to be able to get as many Riau athletes as possible in PON XX 2020 Papua. Because Riau athletes are the best on the island of Sumatra," he concluded.
