News24xx.com -  The death toll in flash floods and landslides in Nepal and India increased to 175 people. Local authorities said the number of victims could continue to grow.

Flash floods and landslides occurred due to the rain that came down directly for three days. Reported by the AFP, on Tuesday August 15 2017, at least killed 80 people in Nepal and 73 in North and East India, as well as 22 people in Bangladesh.

The local police said more than 48,000 houses have been submerged in floods across Southern Nepal. A spokesman for the Red Cross Nepal Dibya Raj Poudel said there are many areas experiencing shortages of drinking water and caused a large number of diseases.

"In many parts of the country there is a scarcity of clean drinking water, so that raises the risk of health hazards," said him.

He also said, there are several villages and settlements that constrained communication access. So, it is difficult to be reached.

"Several villages and settlements are not affordable. Such as telecommunications, the phone still doesn't work so hard to provide relief, "he said.

A local volunteer in Saptari district, one of most severe areas affected says, at the moment clean drinking water and foodis most needed.

"Water levels already reduced a little but the familiesare still not able to return to their homes, taking refuge in the cellar. What is needed now is clean drinking water and food,"said Dipak Kumar Yadav.
