Tokopedia obtain new investment totaling IDR 1.1 billion from Alibaba

News24xx.com -  Tokopedia announces the inclusion of new investments totaling USD 1.1 billion or approximately IDR 14 trillion from Alibaba, the giant e-commerce Chinese origin belonged to Jack Ma.

In remarks received by detikINET on Tuesday, August 17 2017 a new chapter of this investment will be led by Alibaba Group with the participation of the shareholders of Tokopedia.

This investment will make the Alibaba Group as minority shareholders in Tokopedia.
Partnership with Alibaba will increase the scale and quality of service Tokopedia to its users, as well as simplify the seller and Tokopedia partners to develop its business to every corners of Indonesia even up to the world.

According to CEO and co-founder Tokopedia, William Tanuwijaya, one of the principal cultural Tokopedia is has the sincerity to share like a teacher and the curiosity to learn like a pupil.

"We always consider that Alibaba is a teacher and role model for us. Today, we welcomedAlibaba as one of the shareholder in Tokopedia and we believe that this partnership will accelerate the realization of our mission in moving equalization in digital economy,"said William.

Tokopedia established since 2009, has become one of the largest marketplaces in Indonesia platform that enables millions of small enterprises and holders of local brands in Indonesia to start and grow their businesses online to across the country of the largest islands in the world.
