The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan sent as many as 65 personnel of the Integrated Task Force for Forest and Land Fire Disaster Mitigation (Karhutla) of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to several areas that experienced the forest and natural disasters which caused extremely heavy smoke.

Quoting from Anies Baswedan's Instagram account, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government sent the first team consisting of 65 officers from the Fire and Rescue Service by 25 people, the Health Service by 10 people, the BPBD by 5 people, the Social Service by 10 people, the Jakarta volunteer team by 25 people. 10 people, as well as a support team of 5 people.

"The whole team of the first wave will be focused on overcoming it to the Riau area, and later if needed it will follow the next wave team to other areas depending on the needs of forest and land fire prevention," said Anies.

Apparently, Anies Baswedan's good intentions were actually rejected by the Riau Provincial Government (Pemprov) with various considerations.

Head of the Riau Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Edwar Sanger said that if there were many officers in Riau that had been scattered in the field to extinguish and cool the burned land.

"Let it be but we don't accept it. We still have many of our personnel. Dansatgas (Governor of Riau, red) directives, we don't accept," Edwar said when contacted Riau24 Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

Edwar said, currently there are 5809 people in Riau to extinguish fires in the burning area.

"Thank you, but we don't have to. If you want to help, please go to South Sumatra or Jambi. But Riau won't," he said.
