Residents Upset and Complain There Is an Illegal Pork Slaughterhouse in Dumai

DUMAI- Slaughter of pigs on Jalan Siliwangi RT 022, Jayamukti Sub-District, East Dumai District, is suspected of being illegal or does not have a permit. Residents also protested that sewage from the slaughterhouse's sewage was thought to pollute the environment.

Local resident, Nasution, said the illegal slaughtering place for pigs located not far from the house of worship. Cutting activities there are several locations, the cutting process is carried out in a simple way and does not process the waste before it is discharged into the channel.

"Waste of slaughtering of wild animals is immediately discharged into waterways. Therefore, we ask that the permit location be closed because it is near residential areas and houses of worship," he said.

Regarding the unlicensed pig abattoir, Nasution claimed to have written letters to the relevant parties but there was no action from either the whole, sub-district, Satpol PP, the Environmental Service and the Department of Food and Agriculture Security of Dumai City.

"It has been 6 months that the letter signed by the residents agreed to close the slaughtering activity of the pig given to the relevant parties. All RPH activities have their place, not in residential areas and houses of worship," he stressed.

Separately, the Head of the Dumai City Food and Agriculture Endurance Agency (DKPP), Hadiyono, was confirmed as saying that he had coordinated with the kecamatan and kelurahan to follow up on the community's report.

"The DKPP Service has never given permission for a place to slaughter pigs in the area. We have coordinated with the sub-district and village officials," he wrote quickly via WhatsApp. (R24 / Bie)
