According to the China Press, police received reports that someone wanted to jump from the roof of a 33-story building, and they rushed to the scene around 10 pm on November 10. They tried to persuade the man to come down and keep him calm because he was very emotional.

Apparently, Wang was under enormous emotional pressure because his wife had just accumulated a lot of debt during the Singles Day promotion. He has bought more than 300,000 yuan (RM177,559) for designer handbags, expensive perfume, clothing, and many other items online.

He said that this was not the first time. His wife really likes shopping online, but after she gave birth to their child last year, his wife's habits made things worse. During last year's Singles Day sale, he had spent more than 200,000 yuan (RM118,374). He has paid his wife's shopping payment. His wife had promised that he would control his expenses but his wife broke her promise and went shopping again this year.

Wang said that he only made a few thousand yuan a month, and he was the sole family income earner. His wife used to work at a property company but after giving birth, he quit his job to care for the baby. When he learned that his wife was addicted to online shopping, he ran out of mind and decided to commit suicide because he no longer knew how to stop his wife.

Fortunately, the police managed to comfort Mr. Wang and persuade him not to commit suicide after half an hour. They took him home and told his family. His wife promised that he would not be obsessed with shopping online again and swore that he would not buy anything. Wang said that he would try to find the amount owed.
