News24xx.com - Before dawn on January 8, 15 masked police officers broke into Jose Arevalo's house in Barrio Kennedy.

An elite Venezuelan police officer is alleged to have executed a young man after they were interrogated inside his home in a slum on the outskirts of Caracas.

Arevalo was told by an officer: "If you cooperate, you will be free, otherwise you will die."

Arevalo's girlfriend said about 15 uniformed officers and one unknown person in civilian clothing broke in. They drove him and their children from home.

In a recording the young man sat naked and unarmed in a room and begged officers to save his life.

From outside the house, his girlfriend heard the sound of Arevalo being beaten. A few minutes later, he heard gunfire.

Next, he saw officers taking Arevalo out of the house, lifeless and fully clothed.

The police then opened fire on the walls of their homes to make it look as if a shootout had taken place. Right before leaving, he said, they stole a box of eggs and his children's bicycle.

"If my son commits a crime, they should sue him and take him to court," said Zuleica Perez, Arevalo's mother, who then identified her body in the morgue. "Instead, they decided to execute him."
