SIAK - Regional Secretary of Siak District TS Hamzah, Friday (11/15/2019), released the 2019 Siak Serindit Boat Race on the first day by taking a starting position at the Port of Lasdap Siak and finishing at the edge of Bandar Sungai Jantan, Siak Regency, Riau.

Serindit Boat Race tourism event which is scheduled to take place over three days, 15-17 November 2019. Serindit Boat Race Siak 2019, which has entered its third year since it was held in 2017, was attended by 45 teams from home and abroad.

Siak Regency Regional Secretary TS Hamzah when asked after releasing the contestants on the first day, said that the participants of the 2019 Serindit Boat Race, encountered few obstacles in the exercise, including the strong current of the river. However, he said, the condition did not affect the contestants.

"We hope this activity will get better and smoother. The 2019 Siak Boat Race Event will be followed by the best teams from Riau and from outside Riau," Hamzah said. Currently, he explained, there were five teams from abroad, four teams from Johor Malaysia and a team from Brunei Darussalam.

"Serindit Boat Race will be closed on Sunday (11/17/2019) the day after tomorrow. This has become a routine agenda, because it is included in the routine calendar of the Executive Board (PB) of the All Indonesia Paddle Sports Association (PODSI)," he said.

Going forward, Hamzah continued, his party also continued to expect the participation of overseas teams such as this, which were present from abroad, including from Johor Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.

He also said, besides this event, Siak also had an international bicycle event, then Siak Beradah.

A number of these activities, said Hamzah, are certainly expected to further increase tourist visits in Siak Regency and also have an impact on increasing small and medium businesses in the City of Siak.

"Approximately 20 percent increased visits to the Siak Palace this year, compared to last year's Eid. Three days after Eid, the visit to the Palace reached almost Rp. to the Siak Palace, "said Hamzah.
