News24xx.com - Deputy Governor of Riau (Deputy Governor) Edy Afrizal Natar Nasution paid a working visit (kunker) to Class II B Penitentiary (Lapas) Selatpanjang, Tuesday (3/13/2019).

During his visit, the Deputy Governor admitted he was very concerned with the condition of the residents in Selat Panjang Class II Lapas which had exceeded the limit. Where the capacity should only be 83 people but filled with 291 people. In fact, of the 291 prisoners 87 percent were due to drug abuse.

"Imagine that more than 80 percent of the residents here are those who are ensnared by drugs. This is already extraordinary, don't be fooled around. This play is very urgent," said Edy.

Not only that, Edy also looked directly into the available detention room. Even Edy looked surprised, when he entered one of the existing rooms. Where the room that Edy saw was filled by about 20 female prisoners who were all involved in drug problems.

"Just look at one room filled with 20 female convicts, all drug cases, what would the young generation be like this, right?"

Previously, Edy was known to have attended a socialization event on the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Dark Abuse and Circulation (P4GN) which is one way to prevent drug trafficking.
