News24xx.com - Last three days Myanmar laid landmines on its border with Bangladesh, with the aim of preventing the return of Rohingya Muslims, according to a government source in Dhaka.

Bangladesh has formally protested against the laying of landmines close to its border.

An acts of violence against ethnic Rohingyas by Myanmar's security forces have led to the killing of at least 400 people and the exodus of nearly 125,000 Rohingyas to Bangladesh.

"Myanmar places landmines in their territory along barbed wire fences" as quoted from the New Straits Times.

"Our troops have also seen three to four groups working near a barbed wire fence, putting something into the ground," said one source who did not want to be identified.

Manzurul Hassan Khan, a Bangladeshi border guard, told Reuters that two explosions were heard on Tuesday in Myanmar's border region, and this fueled speculation that Myanmar's troops had installed landmines.
