News24xx.com - A 13-year-old boy from Hengyang City, Hunan Province was rushed to hospital after suffering severe inflammation of the brain when he was undergoing an intense study session. He stayed up late to complete eight sets of test papers without stopping to rest.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the boy sleeps late every night to study because he feels pressured for the upcoming final exam. When his parents found him the morning after the incident, they said that he was acting strange. He kept shouting "Chong, come and eat chicken" despite the fact that no one was there.

Worried, his parents immediately sensed that something was wrong with their son and rushed him to the hospital. After visiting the doctor, the child who studied too hard, was diagnosed with severe NMDA receptor encephalitis.

Harvard Health explains that the disease is a type of inflammation of the brain (also known as an autoimmune disease). The inflammation occurs when the body unexpectedly produces the wrong antibodies and attacks healthy brain cells. Although rare, this is usually caused by infection. However, a recent study states that the possibility of stress can also be a trigger for the cause of this one autoimmune disease.

Those who are diagnosed with this disease will usually experience symptoms such as fever, fatigue and delusions or seeing / hearing things that are not there (hallucinations).

Although this sounds scary, experts say this will only happen if you routinely work too hard. You must arrange regular and reasonable breaks between studying and consuming fresh fruits and vegetables so that your brain receives the nutrients it needs to continue to function optimally.
