News24xx.com - "Muslim countries must unite to protect themselves from outside threats," a statement by Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was made public on Tuesday (7/ January 2020) local time.

The statement of Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad came out in response to the assassination of the Iranian Military General, Qassem Soleimani by US forces.

Mahathir Mohamad said that the killing of Iran's military leader, Qasem Soleimani was immoral.

With courage, Mahathir also said that the US step in addition to violating state law, also violates international law.

Mahathir stressed that Muslim countries in the world must be united.

According to him it was necessary to protect themselves from external threats.

Mahathir said the killings carried out in Baghdad, Iraq could cause a massive and confrontational escalation.

"The right time for Muslim countries to gather," Mahathir was quoted as saying by Reuters and ChannelNewAsia, Tuesday (7 January 2020).

"We are no longer safe now. "If someone insults or says something that someone doesn't like, it's okay for people from other countries to send drones and maybe shoot me," he said.

Previously, the oldest prime minister in the world had also triggered diplomatic tension in recent months.

He is also known to dashingly discuss issues concerning the Muslim world both Uighurs and Rohingyas.
