News24xx.com - After attacking the world's supply of automotive parts, the coronavirus is now also hitting Indonesian tourism. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Wishnutama Kusubandio said the Indonesian tourism sector has the potential to suffer losses due to the spread of the coronavirus to reach USD 2.8 billion or IDR38.2 trillion.

The potential loss figure refers to the average national income of foreign exchange from tourists visiting from China for a year.

As is known, due to the spread of the coronavirus, the Government of Indonesia temporarily suspended flights from and to China since 5 February.

He continued, the bad impact of the coronavirus on tourism has been felt since February 2020. This period is often used by tourists to book tickets for summer vacation preparations.

According to him, it happened as a side effect of the coronavirus to a downward trend in tourist numbers in general.

That makes it difficult to predict the performance of tourism for this year.
