Candidate to host U-20 World Cup, PSSI Chairman Ketum Review Riau Main Stadium and 4 Supporting Fields in Pekanbaru

News24xx.com - PSSI said that Riau Main Stadium was included in one of 11 stadiums that were nominated as the host of the 2021 U-20 World Cup.

Later, PSSI and FIFA will decide on the six cities chosen as the 'host cities' of the biennial junior world cup with the 24 participating countries.

"Riau Main Stadium is very big and magnificent. Moreover, all the seats are single seat," said PSSI Chairperson Mochamad Iriawan during a visit to Riau Main Stadium, Thursday, February 13, 2020.

"There just needs to be some maintenance and repairs on all sides of the stadium," said Iriawan accompanied by Riau Governor Syamsuar and PSSI Riau Asprov Chair Husni Thamrin.

In addition to Riau Main Stadium on Jalan Naga Sakti Pekanbaru, Iriawan and the Team also visited Rumbai Sport Center, reviewing two supporting field candidates, namely Kaharudin Nasution Stadium and Rumbai Athletic Field.

Then, the group of PSSI and the Riau Provincial Government continued the inspection to two other supporting fields, namely the Naga Naga Stadium and Riau University Mini Stadium.

Riau Governor Syamsuar, accompanied by Riau Kadispora Doni Aprialdi, appreciated the arrival of PSSI Chairperson to raise Riau football.

Syamsuar said that the Riau Provincial Government really hoped that the implementation of the U-20 World Cup, which would be held in Indonesia in 2021, could include Riau as the host.

"We hope that more private sector participation will play an active role in the improvement of various sports facilities in Riau, so that they can be chosen as one of the hosts of the 2021 U-20 World Cup," said Syamsuar.
