Besides Turkey, PT APR's Production Results in Pelalawan Riau are Exported to 14 Countries

News24xx.com - The presence of PT Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) is in line with President Joko Widodo's vision to encourage more value-added investment in the country as well as strengthen the national textile and textile product (TPT) industry contained in the Roadmap for the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In addition, the presence of PT APR is expected to be an alternative to reduce dependence on imports of textile raw materials, especially cotton, which currently cannot be fulfilled entirely from within the country.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita during the inauguration of the PT APR factory in Pelalawan Regency, Riau, Friday (2/21/2020), said that optimizing the use of textile raw materials originating from within the country was very important in boosting the performance of Indonesian TPT. At present, the Ministry of Industry is taking several steps to continue to improve the performance of the labor-intensive industry.

"To boost the competitiveness of the TPT industry, we have spurred a lot of things. One of them is to facilitate the availability of domestic raw materials, "he said.

Basrie Kamba as the Director of PT APR said, the presence of PT APR can have a positive impact on employment opportunities and business opportunities for small and medium businesses in the upstream-downstream TPT industry.

"We are very grateful to President Joko Widodo for his support through the inauguration of our new facility," he said.

Besides Turkey, PT APR's products are also exported to 14 other countries including world textile markets such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Brazil, and a number of countries in Europe. Not only exports, PT APR's production is also intended to meet the needs of domestic textile raw materials.

"The presence of APR has the potential to generate foreign exchange up to USD 131 million or around Rp 1.77 trillion per year and reduce dependence on imported raw materials up to USD 149 million or around Rp2.01 trillion per year," he said.

PT APR produces sustainable rayon fiber because it comes from renewable, traceable and biodegradable raw materials. PT APR's raw materials are supplied by the APRIL Group as the main supplier, which has been recognized as a responsible producer through national (Timber Legality Verification System) and international (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification / PEFC) certification.

PT APR is the first viscose rayon (artificial silk) producer in Indonesia to receive the internationally recognized STeP certification from OEKO-TEX, an independent certification organization based in Switzerland, for the manufacture of responsible viscose staple fibers.

PT APR launched the 'Everything Indonesia' campaign to promote the use of textile and fashion raw materials produced domestically. The goal is to support Indonesia as a world textile center with rayon as a raw material in the development of creativity and domestic fashion design.
