The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency or BMKG in its official broadcast said that the earthquake occurred at 19.33 West Indonesia Time, with an earthquake magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale.

However, the epicenter was on land, the coordinate point was 0.36 South Latitude, 100.29 East Longitude or 10 kilometers southwest of Bukittinggi with a depth of 10 kilometers.

Because the epicenter was on land, BMKG did not issue a tsunami wave warning. However, people are advised not to panic, and remain alert to aftershocks.
