Provincial Government Gesa Corona Swab Test Labor Procurement in Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru

The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Riau continues to pursue the procurement of a regional health laboratory (Labkesda) for the study of corona patient swab samples at Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru. The labor which costs Rp. 7 billion will be used in the middle of April 2020.

Covid-19 Handling Spokesman for Riau, Dr. Indra Yovi said if the preparation of the lab construction had reached the completion stage of the laboratory room and was just waiting for the completeness of the equipment and reagents ordered to arrive in Riau.

"Some of the laboratory preparations that have been carried out are a team consolidation, completion of laboratory manufacturing that is in accordance with BSL 2+ standards, SOPs, and ordering equipment and reagents as much as possible according to WHO standards," he said.

In this preparation, he said, the Covid-19 Lab team coordinated with other Covid-19 Laboratory Centers which were already operating. Among them are the Balitbangkes and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia.

He said, the Covid-19 laboratory is a molecular lab that serves the RT PCR examination of the SARS-CoV-2 virus as the gold standard of Covid-19 diagnosis and not as a laboratory for supporting rapid test examinations.

In addition, sample testing in the laboratory was carried out by a professional team from FK and FMIPA Riau University who were appointed directly by the Governor of Riau Syamsuar.

"The Covid-19 patient sample testing lab was formed based on the Decree of the Minister of Health which appointed Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital of Riau Province as a non-surveillance examiner lab," he concluded.
