"Indeed, there are several studies that state air temperature and humidity can affect the spread of Covid-19. The statement is the result of an analysis of the number of patients with Covid-19 in various countries that are associated with local environmental conditions," said Sugiyono.

Sugiyono said, in general the case of Covid-19 is currently concentrated in the northern hemisphere which is experiencing winter with temperatures below 18 degrees Celsius and humidity less than 9 g / m3.

"So, there is a suspicion that the new corona virus will not last long in tropical areas that have hot temperatures and high humidity," he said.
 
Sugiyono continued, the study said that decreased virus resistance due to high temperature and humidity automatically made the spread predicted to be even slower.

"The situation makes Covid-19 like a seasonal flu virus which generally ends when summer arrives," he said.

Furthermore, Sugiyono said the virus that had entered the body would not be affected by the temperature and humidity of the environment. High temperatures and humidity only reduce virus resistance outside the body.
 
"When the virus is in the body and is transmitted quickly through direct contact, these factors may have no effect. Closed space and poor air circulation can worsen the spread of Covid-19," he said.

Patient demographics, patient handling capacity, countermeasures, and the characteristics of the virus itself, which may have been able to adapt to hotter temperatures, affect the resistance of the new corona virus.
 
"From the evidence so far, the Covid-19 virus can be transmitted in all areas, including areas with hot and humid weather. To be sure, after the pandemic has been established by WHO, Covid-19 can attack anyone and anywhere, regardless of race or geographical location. "he stressed.
