News24xx.com -  Government and mobile operators will enforce a valid phone number registration with a resident status ID and Family Card number that starting from October 31, 2017.

This stipulation has been regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 14 Year 2017 on Telecommunication Services Customer Registration which is the amendment of Ministerial Regulation No. 12 of 2016.

Minister of Communications and Informatics (MoCI), Rudiantara revealed, the registration process and data validation of mobile phone number will applies to new and old customers.


New customers who purchase a new mobile SIM card are required to register with a valid identity, and for old customers are required to re-register with resident status ID and Family Card number.


"This registration has been initiated by the MoCI in 2005, it has been more than 11 years, but the implementation depends on the existence of ecosystem and socialization process in the community. With registration based on population data, the personal information submitted by customers is correct and validation is more better," said Rudiantara in Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.


Rudiantara asserted, the registration based on population data with using e-ID card as the main reference of cellular subscriber database in Indonesia. So the data can not be falsified.


When the user enters the resident status ID number and family number to register a SIM card, the cellular operator will validate the data based on the demographic database from Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration and then activate the customer number.


The registration process will be declared successful when data that entered by prospective customers and old customers is validated in the population database.


The government targets telecom operators to complete re-registration of customers whose data has not been validated on February 28, 2017.
