Suffer of ALS, a beauty woman decides to stop treatment and donate her head for medical research

News24xx.com -  Lou Tao, a 28-year-old PhD candidate at Beijing's prestigious Peking University will donate her head for medical research, and her other organs to help save lives.

After coming in first in the admission exam, Lou entered into a PhD history program at Peking University in 2015.

Shortly after that, she was diagnosed with ALS, a rare, progressive neurological disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, limiting muscle strength and function.

Lou quickly began to lose mobility in her left foot and her condition worsened from there. Since January of this year, she has been moved into the ICU.

On October 7th, Lou told her father that she wanted to stop treatment and donate her organs. She even went on a hunger strike to force her father to agree to her demands.

She then asked a nurse to write down her will:

"After I die, I would like to donate my head for medical research. I hope one day we will find the cure to ALS, so that mankind will no longer suffer from it,” Lou’s will read.

She also said that she wanted to donate her other organs to help save more lives.

Her friends and fellow classmates raised over 1 million yuan (USD 150,000) to help fund her treatment, but she said in her will that she didn’t want to receive money from other people.

"I would like the rest of my body to be cremated and the ashes to be scattered in Yangtze River... No funeral service or tomb... Please let me leave quietly, without a trace, just as if I have never been in this world…

"The meaning of life is not about how long one lives, but rather the quality of one's life,” Lou’s last words.

Her life was tragically, but her memories will live on in the lives of those that she will help save.
