A suicide bomb blast took place at Tuz Khurmatu Iraq, dozens of people was killed

News24xx.com -  A suicide bomb blast took place in the bustling fruit and vegetable market in central Tuz Khurmatu, Iraq.

A total of 23 people were killed and 60 others were injured on Tuesday, November 22, 2017.

Prime Minister of Iraqi, Haider al Abadi said he nearly announced the military's victory over the Sunni jihad group, after pro-government troops recaptured the last city atlast week.

Tuz Khurmatu is a city with Kurdish, Arab, and Turkmen ethnic populations. The city became the site of a deadly clash in October 2017 when Iraqi pro-government forces recaptured it from Kurdish Peshmerga fighters.

Abadi ordered the military to seize of Kurdistan that controlled since 2014, when ISIS controls northern of Iraq, after the Kurdistan Regional District (KRG) held a referendum of independence in late September 2017.

A parliamentarian of Turkmenistan, Niazi Maamar Oglu said that Tuz Khurmatu had never been hit by such deadly attacks for years.

"There are still some areas in the west of Tuz Khurmatu which serves as the hiding of the ISIS group and we will soon carry out the operation to clean it," said Chief Security Officer, Salahuddin Mehdi Taqi.
