Choose to silent the case of RAPP, Jikalahari said the Governor of Riau is coward

News24xx.com -  The Riau Forest Rescue Network (Jikalahari) questioned the commitment of the Riau Governor (Gubri) on the Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP) issue.

The giant timber company in Riau is suing the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) for the regulation of peatland.

This was conveyed by Deputy Coordinator Jikalahari, Made Ali, on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.

Made said Governor of Riau is a coward if he just silence about the problem of RAPP that suing of KLHK.

Indirectly, the Governor of Riau has neglected to the local community.

"The governor is a coward if he choose to silent because fear that Riau's income will be lost without RAPP," said Made Ali, during a briefing with media crew at the Pangeran Hotel on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.

For Made if RAPP want to revoked its license, Provincial Government (Pemprov) Riau can control the assets thatleft by the timber company.

"If the revocation is really revoked by the RAPP, Riau provincial government can make the abandoned land as an asset, and take the land and make it as a Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD)," Made Ali explained .

Not only that, Made Ali also considered if RAPP dare to sue of KLHK because the peatland affected by the regulation has already been pledged as collateral to international banks.

"We get data that RAPP has mortgaged the Riau peat as the debt guarantee to the foreign banks, although the flow of this fund they never acknowledged," said Made.

The lawsuit of RAPP against KLHK in PTUN is still ongoing.
