News24xx.com - A video that showing a polar bear in the middle of a island for searching food made shocked the netizens in the world.
A video that footage a starving polar bear looking for food on an island in Canada has become viral in social media.
The video recorded by Paul Nicken, a photographer of National Geographic magazine and co-founder of the Sea Legacy environmental group, has been distributed over a million times since it was featured on Instagram on Tuesday December 11 2017.
"The entire from Sea Legacy team is not strong enough to hold back tears while documenting this dying polar bear," said Nicken.
"This heart-rending scene still haunts me."
Nicken's associate Cristina Mittermeier says that polar bears need a lot of meat to survive, but the melting of ice in this region makes it difficult for them to catch seals - their main food source.
"They have to struggle when stranded for long periods of time on land, without sea ice for hunting," he wrote in an Instagram post which showed photos of the starving bear.
Responding to comments on social media that questioned why the Sea Legacy team did not try to help the bear, Mittermeier stated, "We do not have weapons and food for the polar bear"
