News24xx.com - At least 176 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with Israeli soldiers, which took place during a demonstration against US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

On Friday (12/1) local time, hundreds of Palestinians clashed with the Israeli soldiers in the territory of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

As Iranian media reported Press TV on Saturday (13/01/2018), in a demonstration that led to clashes in Gaza, hundreds of Palestinians approached the border fence and threw stones at the Israeli soldiers. The Israeli soldiers then responded by firing tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

While in the West Bank, demonstrators hurled stones and burned tires as they protested against Trump's decision on Jerusalem. Israeli soldiers also fired tear gas and threw stun grenades.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said a total of 176 Palestinian demonstrators were wounded in clashes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Earlier on December 6, 2017, Trump announced its decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Trump also submitted a plan to move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Trump's decision sparked outrage in various Muslim and Arab countries and concerns among European and Russian allies. The UN General Assembly even issued a resolution condemning Trump's decision and called for it to revoke his decision.*
