News24xx.com -  A recent study in the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry found curcumin that content in turmeric, may reduce the risk of memory loss in old age.

Thus, curcumin can be used for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease.


Garry Small, a researcher from the University of California, Los Angeles make a tests about the effects of curcumin in people with Alzheimer's and people who have normal health.


The results is people who consume of regular supplementation of curcumin twice a day have an impact on the high cognitive abilities for one and a half years.

The researchers also says that the effects of curcumin are uncertain. But at least, this substance is able to suppress the risk of brain inflammation. It is associated with Alzheimer's disease and severe depression.


Signal of amyloid in the amygdala and hypothalamus are reduced in people who are accustomed to drinking of curcumin. These two elements play a role in one's emotions and psychology.

A study was conducted with taking samples of 40 adults aged 50-90 years who have problems with their memory.

Then, 30 respondents are checked their Positron Emission Tomography (PET) as a step to determine the levels of amyloid compounds in the brain.


From the data shows that the brain is able to store long-held memories for respondents who routinely to consume of kurkumin, than people who are only supplied their brain with placebo intake.


The memory of people who regularly consumed curcumin was increased until 28 percent during the study.
