A mother selling her kidney to buy her child a phone

News24xx.com - Until now, officers of community protection in Surabaya still investigate about a woman, called JW (41), from Surabaya, who offered her kidney to buy her child a mobile phone. Officers visited the neighborhood association from where JW lives.

One of the officer said that JW lived alone with her two children. Her eldest son is attending a vocational high school in Surabaya, and her youngest daughter, is attending middle school in Surabaya as well.

“I don’t have anything anymore. I don’t have husband, and my child keep asking for a mobile phone. I have bought mobile phones twice but it kept missing,” JW claimed.

Annoyed after being pestered by her child for it, she then took drastic measure by offering her kidney, in front of Cito Mall Surabaya, with a cardboard hanging from her neck, written on it,

“Cheap kidney sale.” It was still unclear whether she was the one who wrote those words.

“We will visit her homes the next day,” the head of community protection of Surabaya, Yusuf Masruroh said.
