The fans of football will be allowed to bring cocaine and marijuana to the 2018 FIFA World Cup,  as long as they pass through the bureaucratic hoops necessary to check the security of documents.

The Eurasian Economic Union, headed by Russia, gives travelers the right to bring banned substances into the country with supporting of medical documents written in the Russian language. According to the regulations, the list of permitted drugs into Russian-led bloc includes cocaine, cannabis and heroin.

The organizing committee of  the 2018 FIFA World Cup  told the pro-Kremlin Izvestia newspaper that law enforcement officers who are on duty at World Cup stadiums will be instructed to check the authenticity of drug prescriptions.

"Security officers will monitor the compliance with the rules for carrying prescription drugs, both in the stadium at checkpoints," the organizing committee said on Tuesday, March 13 2018.

Izvestia refers to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, which reports that football fans bringing the  drugs will have to fill out a customs declaration.

Russia is set to host the World Cup in 2018 from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi.
