News24xx.com -  The Nigerian security forces were unable to respond to warnings that armed men were heading to a city where 110 schoolgirls were abducted last month, according to a human rights group.

Amnesty International on Tuesday pointed to sources of security services where both parents and fugitives stated that the military and police had received at least five calls hours before the attack on February 19, which recalled the many kidnappings of 276 Nigerian school girls Boko Haram in 2014.

"Amnesty International" interviewed 23 people who told how about 50 soldiers arrived in the convoy of nine cars, when residents of the village attended evening prayers in the northern city of Dapchi, in the state of Yube.

The first warning about the attack was received a few hours earlier. The phone call was sent to a team of the Nigerian army, about 50 km away, to say that militants were found in a village near Dappi. The military commander gave an answer, saying that he was aware of the situation and controlled it, sources from Amnesty International reported.

When the soldiers later arrived in another village, some residents called the people at Dapchi to warn that the convoy had gone its own way, and one villager said that he had informed the police about this.

Residents of the village said that the military did not arrive at Dapchi at the time, only shortly after the attack.
