Tuesday, January 30th 2018, pawning your civil servant certificate is not something new now, Even this has been done by most of the civil servants to borrows money from the bank.

But not a few are anxious whether pawning certificates to bank fell into usury. For usury in Islamic laws is haram.

This issue has been answered Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) via video posted by Tafaqquh. The video titled "Q & A (Muhammad Cheng Hoo mosque, Gowa Makasar)" has been watched 82 thousand times.

"What is the law of the PNS certificates pawned into the bank for Hajj funds, house builds, and marriages? Money changed was usury, even good cooperates, banks, and others," Ustaz Abdul Somad replied in the video.

UAS exampled like borrowed money 10 millions IDR by "sending" certificates to the bank. Then paid later with total 11 millions IDR. Then it's usury. "The usury used to going to the holy land, Hajj back and forth did not affect his personality, because it was not hajj mabrur."

In another lecture video Ustadz Abdul Somad (UAS) was asked the same thing. And the answer is also the same, the law for pawning civil servant certificate in the Bank is usury. Ustaz suggested to all Muslims to live a simple life and not follow the lust.

"I am also a civil servant, my certificate is at home, since become civil servant until now I have never used it to borrow money. I dont have alot of  money. It is better to live modestly than to appear rich but usury,” he said.
