The fourth former South Korean leader detained over corruption

News24xx.com -  Ex South Korean President, Lee Myung-Bak was arrested for corruption. The 76-years-old former president was charged with various charges including bribery, power abuse and tax evasion.

He is the fourth surviving former South Korean leader to be detained over corruption. Myung-Bak led South Korea in 2008 to 2013.


As reported by the AFP news agency on Friday March 23 2018, live TV footages showed   Lee Myung-Bak out from his house on Thursday March 22 2018, wearing a dark coat with a tie, emerge from his house, shake hands with his former aides and get into a car with darkened windows.


"I do not blame others,  it's all my fault and I feel remorse," Lee said in a hand written statement was posted on his Facebook account.


Yonhap news agency reported that Lee Myung-Bak who denies most of the charges against him, will receive a brief health check before changing into a prison garb with an inmate number and sleeping in an 11-square metre solitary cell.
