Four strange reasons why young couples want to marry in their early age

News24xx.com - In the past, youngsters were forced to marry due to matchmaking done by their parents. It does not happen in modern times, but apparently, there are a couple of teenagers who willingly marry at such a young age. This happens in Indonesia more than once, whether marrying their peers or an older person. Of course at that age, the reasons to marry mostly seem weird and strange. What are the reasons for these youngsters to marry?

1.       Afraid of sleeping alone

Recently, the public was shocked when a young couple, both only in junior high school, asked for a marriage. Their wish was rejected because they were still very young. The couple came from Bantaeng, South Sulawesi. The boy is 15 years old while the girl is 14 years old. However the reason for them to marry can make you frown in confusion. They want to marry because the girl is afraid to sleep alone, as she is living by herself. Her mother has passed away while her father is busy working and rarely home. But surely, if she really needs someone to accompany her during the night, she can just sleep over in her relative’s house or even lived in a dormitory where she can share a room with another girl.

2.       Not wanting to be apart

A similar case happened in 2017, once again, in South Sulawesi. Awal Rahman, 14 year-old and Awalia Mar’a, 14 year-old surprised the civilians in Borong Rappoa when they married each other with dowry of IDR 30 billion. They insisted to marry because they said they loved each other so very much to the point that they did not want to be apart from one another. Hopefully, this one can last long and is not some kind of puppy love.

3.       Caught coming home together at dawn

Another early marriage happened in West Sulawesi. Although they were both still in high school, the 15-year-old Andini and the 16-year-old Arling decided to marry each other. Other than the fact that they love each other, they married because they were caught coming home together at dawn. Because they were afraid they would draw the line, they decided to marry early.

4.       Want to live independently like adults

The next couple came from Baturaja, South Sumatra. Instead of being sad for letting go of their adolescence, Gaston, 17 year-old and Amanda, 15 year-old were happy for being married and becoming husband and wife at such a young age. The bride was even excited to live independently as an adult.

Such reasons may sound silly and strange coming from youngsters, who for some people, can still be considered children. But in the end, it was all up to the couples. If they can maintain their marriage, no matter how silly the reason for their marriage is, then it will be fine.
