An old man was found through Youtube video after missing for 40 years

News24xx.com - Khomdram Gambhir Singh, a man from Mumbai, India, who had been missing for 40 years finally reunited with his family, after they watched a YouTube video which became viral. The video shows a man singing a soundtrack of a popular Bollywood film.

Khomdram left his family house in Imphal, Manipur, in 1978 when he was 26 years old. For four decades, there was not a single news from Khomdram, until they watched a video of an old man with a beard, singing at the street of Mumbai, around 3.300 kilometers from Manipur. The singer claimed to be Khomdram Singh from Manipur. A civilian saw it and showed it to the family.

The family quickly recognized that the man was Khomdram who was missing for 40 years and contacted Imphal police. After coordinating with Mumbai police, they searched Khomdram in a slum in Bandra.

Firoze Shakir, a photographer who recorded the video said that Khomdram had been living as a beggar who sang a Bollywood songs. He recorded the video and uploaded it last year. Khomdram told him that he was a construction worker but after several accidents, he became an alcoholic.

Shakir, who saw Khomdram often, decided to record him when the 66 year-old man begging while singing a Bollywood song. His video became viral and watched 55.000 times in YouTube. Thanks to his video, Khomdram was able to reunite with his family.

“This is unexpected. But I hope this video can touch all people’s heart” he said.

The Times of India reported that Khomdram was once a civil servant in the army. His marriage did not last long. He divorced his wife before deciding to leave home.
