President the University of Saint Anthony want to learn to manage the education from Islamic University of Riau

News24xx.com -  President of University of Saint Anthony Philipina, Atty Santiago D. Ortega, Jr. expressed his admiration about development of Islamic University of Riau (UIR) and he decided to learned how to manage the education from UIR.

Towards the signing of MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between Mr. Santiago and the rector of UIR,  Prof. Dr. H. Syafrinaldi, S.H., M.C.L on Monday afternoon, April 23 2018 at the Islamic University of Riau, located at Kaharuddin Nasution street Pekanbaru, Mr. Santiago also expressed his appreciation and his wishes.

At this time, Islamic University of Riau and University of Saint Anthoni has been agreed to made a cooperate in education field, research and community service, knowledge and technology, human resources and other fields of science for five years.

The Memorandum of Understanding that signed by each rector, also witnessed by Vice Rector for Administration and Finance,  Ir. H. Asro, M.Ec, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Ir. H. Rosyadi, M.Sc.

And for accompany President of the University of Saint Anthony Philipina Atty Santiago D. Ortega Jr,  from the Philippines also attended by DR. Jose Ballesteros (Vice President of the University of Saint Anthony), Prof. Estrella Arroyo (Dean of Liberal Arts), DR. Arlene Monsalve (Dean of Teacher Education), Editha Dacara (Dean of Engineering and Architecture) and Mr. Carlos Epres (Dean of Maritime Education).

The signing of MoU also witnessed by :

For information, the visit of President Santiago in Islamic University of Riau will be held until Wednesday, April 25 2018. 

In addition to signing the MoU into MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) with the Faculty of Teacher Education and Sience, Mr. Santiago will visit other faculties in UIR.

Santiago said he had just been appointed as the President of the University of Saint Anthony in 1994.

"In 1994, I became the president of the university. Initially, I was a businessman but after I entered the world of education, I was confused because here (in the world of education) is very difficult for me to find profits. Therefore,  I want to learn from the Islamic University of Riau, how to manage the world of education,'' Mr.  Santiago said.

At the age of 80, Santiago confess that he will retiring from his position as the president in July 2018.

He said, what he had done for the university was enough for his next successor. The university will staffed by young personnel and will equipped by laboratories and other facilities to support the activities of students.

''But our campus is not too wide, not like here (Islamic University of Riau). This is very wide, like a giant,'' Mr. Santiago praised.

Similar praise also came from the Rector of UIR, Prof. Syafrinaldi. The former of Dean from Faculty of Law also expressed his grateful for the visit of President from University of Saint Anthony Philipina, because at the age of 80, he is still have power to came to Indonesia especially to Pekanbaru, Riau.

According to him, the cooperation between the Islamic University of Riau and University of Saint Anthony is the second cooperation for Philippines. He believes that new values ??will be gain from this cooperation, especially about the concerning for the curriculum.

''Both UIR and University of Saint Anthony can to compare the curriculum on each university, so will gain positive values for each other, '' said Mr. Syafrinaldi.
