First in history, the biggest mosquito in the world was found in China

News24xx.com -  Mosquitoes are animals that commonly encountered by people who live in the tropics area, especially at night.


Not only that, in the transition season, mosquitoes as if craze. The bites of mosquito should not be underestimated, because there are some dangerous diseases caused by mosquito bites.


But recently Zhai Li, the Chinese entomologist have found a giant mosquito with a wing span about 11.15 cm at last year in August during his field trip to Mount Qingcheng in Chengdu. Zhai Li told that the mosquito is the world’s biggest mosquito species, Holorusia Mikado. 


According the Xinhua agency, the mosquito is found in Sichuan province and it was found. This species is also known as crane fly and is mainly found in the Chengdu plain and mountains below 2200 metres. 


First found in Japan and named by British entomologist John Obadiah Westwood in 1876, the Holorusia Mikado species normal have wingspan of about 8 cm.


"These mosquitoes look horrendous but do not feed on blood. There are tens of thousands of types of mosquitoes in the world. They are found in areas with dense vegetation," Zhao said.
