News24xx.com - The 71-year-old Vladimir Uglev, the scientist who created the nerve agent which was used in the assassination attempt on Russian former spy and his daughter, was hit by a car near his home in Black Sea resort of Anapa.

Uglev had tried to avoid the hit by getting under the wheels of the car, but he suffered injuries at his arms, legs and head. However, he was still strong enough to talk after the crash.

“I noticed that the car was going fast, not slowing down ahead of the crossing. I started to run and nearly reached the end of the crossing, when the car got me” he said as cited from Metro News.

The driver of the vehicle was a 70 year-old man who lived at the local area. He claimed that he had stopped the car during the incident. The police still investigate how the crash happened.

The nerve agent used to poison the Skripals, the Novichok has been the center of the problem between Russia and UK. Uglev said that he believed he was not targeted deliberately. However, he said that he may have upset the Russian officials when he said he could not exclude the possibility that some of their lab workers might have been tempted to sell the toxic substance.

Novichok, the chemical weapon that Uglev made was used to kill Russian former spy, Sergei Skripal  66 year-old and his daughter Yulia Skripal 33 year-old. While Yulia had been released from the hospital, her father Sergei was still hospitalized though no longer in critical condition.
