The selection of participants for simulated flights to Mars has begins in the US

News24xx.com -  Currently, in the United States, the selection of participants to simulate a flight to Mars was begins. This project was realized in the framework of Mars expedition preparation program in the future.

The research activities within the project framework will be undertaken by specialists from the University of Hawaii.

As reported through the press center, to be a participant in this experiment, you must be 21 to 65 years old, have no bad habits and have excellent health.

In addition, it is necessary to have a higher technical education, basic English and to can be able to work in difficult conditions, because this research will held in a confined space for several months.

To participate, the US citizens and representatives from other countries are also invited.

The first such experiment was conducted in 2013, and the last one started on February 15, 2018.

Four people were selected for that research, but the experiment must stopped because the refusal from one of the team members to continue their participate.

The complex to simulate the flights to Mars is located on the slopes of Hawaii's Mauna Loa volcano, which has a similar landscape to the Red Planet.

It is assumed that the pilot study will be a real flight preparation stage to Mars, which is planned to take place ten years later. The group will be housed in a vast dome-like room, where the laboratory is located on the ground floor, and accommodation facilities for participants are on the top floor.

The scientists will follow the process of using cameras and sensors on the participants' bodies.

The longest such experiment ever held in Russia in 2010, lasting for 520 days - this is the period required to reach the planet Mars and return to earth.
