There is no family to pick up the corpses of Surabaya bombers

There are 13 corpses of terrorists in Surabaya and Sidoarjo still being kept in Bhayangkara Hospital, Surabaya. And there is still no family members that came to pick up for any of the bodies for at least identification process until Wednesday afternoon, May 16th 2017.

“This is the third time, we ask for the family of Dita, Anton and Tri to come to Bhayangkara Hospital,” the head of human resources division of East Java Police Department, Frans Barung Mangera, said on Wednesday.

According to Barung, the forensic department of Bhayangkara Hospital needed data to confirm the ones they had.

“This is the last time we ask, later we will announce it through police official accounts,” Barung said.

If there is still no family member that comes for the bodies, then they will decide to bury them after discussing it with provincial government and religious figures. “Maybe 7 days later, we can coordinate with provincial government and religious figures,” he said.

Barung said the Tri’s family actually did come to the hospital. But they only came to visit A, Tri’s 8-year-old child who survived the explosion and was treated in the same Bhayangkara hospital.

“A’s grandmother and uncle came to Bhayangkara Hospital to visit, but they did not want to acknowledge Tri,” Barung said.
