News24xx.com - Parma did not take long to return to the Italian league's first caste. Just three years after being declared bankrupt, the Gialloblu will again compete in Serie A.

Parma confirmed their promotion to the Serie A after beating host Spezia 2-0 at Stadio Alberto Picco, La Spezia, Saturday, May 19th 2018. Two Parma goals scored by Fabio Ceravolo and Amato Ciciretti. Thanks to the victory, Parma finished second in Serie B standings with 72 points from 42 matches. Parma also get promotional tickets automatically with Empoli who became the champion of Serie B.

Parma was one of Italy's greatest clubs in the 1990s. They have won the Cup Winners Cup, UEFA Cup (twice), European Super Cup, Italian Super Cup, and three Coppa Italia wins. However, Parma was hit by financial crisis and finally declared bankrupt in March 2015. They also had to fight from scratch and thrown into Serie D.

But, three successive promotions led Parma back to Serie A. Clubs based at the Stadio Ennio Tardini will also compete again with top teams in Serie A.

There is still one promotion ticket to the remaining Serie A. One of these tickets will be contested through a play-off involving six teams, namely Frosinone, Palermo, Venezia, Bari, Cittadella, and Perugia.
