After his photo looking old and frail goes viral, Jet Li Says Like This

After a photo of him looking unrecognizably old and frail went viral late last week, martial arts legend Jet Li has stepped forward to reassure everyone that he’s doing just fine.

“I would like to thank all my fans who expressed concerns about my health. I’m doing great and feeling great!” Li wrote on Facebook yesterday evening.

Concern for the action star’s health began with a photo of him taken during a recent visit to Tibet. In the photo, Li looks much older than his 55 years and hardly resembles the man who became a global icon through films like “Once Upon a Time in China,” “Lethal Weapon 4,” and “The Expendables.”

Back in 2013, Li revealed for the first time that he had been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid in 2010. While Li has taken medication to control the condition, theSouth China Morning Postreportsthat he confessed last year that the condition keeps returning.

Li also suffers from a myriad of other illnesses and ailments, many of which were brought on by his years of demanding martial arts and film work. He hassaidthat his doctors told them that if he continued to make movies, he could spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

In recent years, Li has instead devoted his time to his charity project, The One Foundation. 

Jet Li's manager, Steven Chasman, said earlier this week that the concerns about Li’s health are “much ado about nothing.”

“We appreciate everyone’s concern. But Jet is completely fine,” There’s nothing wrong with him. There’s no life-threatening illness. He’s in great shape.”

Chasman added that the Tibetan temple photo of Li had been wildly taken out of context.

“It’s one picture and people are making these interpretations from it,” he said, reported shanghai list. “If you took a picture me at the wrong angle and wrong time of the day, I could look frail as well."****
