Pocong oath was practiced again in Probolinggo, with statement letter

News24xx.com -  Pocong oath is an oath taken by someone while being covered in a shroud like the dead people. In Indonesia, pocong oath is rarely done anymore because of its mystical element. However, it did happen recently.

The incident of pocong oath in a mushalla (little mosque) in Posangit Lor Village, Wonomerto District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java, became a hot topic for local people. The villagers all crowded around the mushalla to watch the ritual.

Before doing the ritual of pocong oath, the accuser Sulima and the accused Tinasum, made a statement letter. The letter says that Sulima will not accuse Tinasum after the pocong oath is taken.

The statement letter was signed by both of them, with the head of the village and some other people as the witnesses. After that, the pocong oat ritual was held.

“If I really did practice witchcraft, then I will take responsibility. However, if it is not proven, then the accuser will be the one who is harmed,” Tinasum said.

Meanwhile, Sulima said that her husband, Mat Nur, had been hospitalized with a sickness for four days. Every night, he dreamed about Tinasum.

“Through that dream, our family believed that my husband’s sickness is caused by Tinasum,” Sulima said.

Through this pocong oath, the people believe that if the accused person was the one at fault, she will die soon. However, if the accuser was wrong, than she will be the one who die soon.
