News24xx.com -  After seven years for smartphone patent trial between Apple and Samsung but it failed, now a federal court in California has judged in favour of Apple and forcing Samsung should to pay USD 539 million for damages to iPhone.

Because, Samsung infringed on Apple design and utility patents, like the iPhone’s rounded corners, the front-facing rim, and the grid app layout of the iOS home screen.

The hearing says, all of these design idea might be common now, but this case first began back in 2011.

At that time, Apple said in a statement as quoted from Bloomberg. “This case has important thing, not more than money. Because, we believe deeply in the value of design, and our teams work tirelessly to create innovative products that delight our customers"

Now the court says Samsung owes to Apple about USD 539 million as a fraction of their sales, based on features stolen from Apple.

When the case was first filed in 2011, Apple was suing for USD 2.5 billion in damages, but that sum was reduced to less than USD 1 billion in the initial 2012 verdict.

Eventually, another ruling in May 2015 said Apple can’t legally trademark the iPhone’s appearance, which reduced the payout to only  USD  548 million.

It’s been a twisted case from the start in what’s probably the biggest patent infringement case in the global tech industry.

Apple, meanwhile, won another patent infringement case last year, and forcing Samsung to pay USD 120 million for copying iOS’ slide-to-unlock feature.
