Ghana disbanded their football association due to massive corruption case

News24xx.com - Ghana has disbanded its national football association due to corruption claimes. In a video, the leader of association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, is seen receiving “cash gift” from an undercover reporter who pretended to be businessman who wanted to invest in Ghanaian football. He is seen receiving around USD 65,000.

Ghanaian Sports Minister Isaac Asiama said that the organization has been “dissolved with immediate effect” as cited from BBC. However, Nyantakyi did not respond to the allegation that he was receiving bribe.

The undercover investigation was done by controversial journalist, Anas Aremayaw. He made a documentary video titled When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm. He handed it to the government and the video was screened in public on Wednesday. It raised question about the meaning of football in Africa. Ghana’s Information Minister Mustapha Abdul-Hamid said that the government decided to take immeadiate measure and dissolved the GFA (Ghana Football Association).
